Baynouna Solar company was born, in 2016, with and investment exceeding US$230 Million, from the fruitful and mutual collaboration between our partners: Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), one of the leading renewable energy companies in the world and owning 70%, and Taaleri Energia, the largest Finnish dedicated wind and solar investment fund in Europe and owning 30% and the buyer through a power purchase agreement (PPA) extending for 20 years is the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Jordan’s state electricity provider. Thus, Baynouna project is a prime example of a successful international investment in Jordan’s growing renewable energy sector, being a bi-lateral initiative between Jordan and the UAE for a cleaner and greener present and a more sustainable future.
Board of Directors
Solar energy is a viable solution to a global problem and to an ongoing national concern; namely the global energy crisis. The problem lies, purely, in the fact that world population is rising at a rate of 1.1% amounting to 83 million per year while non-renewable natural resources are being depleted at the rate of 45% per year, resulting in the inability of countries to meet and sustain present, as well as future energy needs. Multiple sources of energy are available but the cheapest, most abundant, always existent and easiest to turn into energy is solar power, which is starting to play a pivotal role in enabling countries meet their future energy needs. To conclude, the stakes are higher than ever, renewable energy is now a vital element in solving our earth’s energy crisis.
