Currently, H.E. Yousif Al Ali works with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure as Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector. Previous to this role, he was heading the Clean Energy Unit within Masdar as the Executive Director of Clean Energy.
Yousif Al Ali is Director, Business Growth, Clean Energy, a commercial‐scale, renewable energy developer and investor that is building some of the world’s most sophisticated clean‐energy projects.
In his role, Mr. Al Ali is responsible for identifying projects and investment opportunities, developing business, delivering projects, and overall business unit growth.
Mr. Al Ali is also the Chairman of Shams Power Company a joint venture between Masdar (80%) and Total (20%). His role involves directing and managing all development and operational activities related to the 100MW Shams 1 ‐ the world’s largest operating concentrated solar power (CSP) plant.
Mr. Al Ali joined Masdar in early 2007 as a Project Manager during this time he was seconded to Torresol Energy in Spain, helping supporting the delivery of three concentrated solar power plants: Gemasolar, Valle 1, and Valle 2, which have a total combined capacity of 120MW.
Mr. Al Ali joined Masdar from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), where he spent over four years working as a plant engineer for Abu Dhabi Polymers. He has over 12 years of experience in the renewable energy and petrochemical industries and is a Certified Project Management Professional.
Mr. Al Ali holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the IE Business School in Madrid, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemical Engineering from UAE University
